ARCHER2 held a celebration of science event in Edinburgh to provide users with an opportunity to showcase their science achievements, with the two-day programme comprising a variety of talks from members of the ARCHER2 research consortia and other invited presenters, a poster session and a panel. With around 120 attendees in total, this was a well attended and very successful event with a large number of different topics discussed.
ExCALIBUR has used ARCHER2 extensively throughout the lifetime of the programme and also many of the research consortia are connected to ExCALIBUR in some way, either directly benefitting from the program further developing their algorithms, tools and techniques or indirectly benefitting from the range of advances being made for exascale.
ExCALIBUR were represented at the celebration of science event in two ways, firstly we had a poster and lightening talk. This was a great opportunity to share with the audience some of the highlights around ExCALIBUR and for those less familiar with the program share with them some of the important activities that are going on.
We also had an exhibition stand at the event, complete with the ExCALIBUR sword (that was very popular!) This gave people an opportunity to discuss about ExCALIBUR in more detail, a focal area where those involved in the program could meet and an opportunity to share information and merchandise including the project postcards, leaflets, and pens.
The event was a huge success, and we were impressed by how many different projects had been influenced, in some way or other, by the activities of ExCALIBUR.
